Paint the town black!

sorry if the posts for these few days are not funny or humorous at all.
in fact, they may be completely boring and sad.
well, if i cant make myself laugh, how can you expect me to make other people laugh?
ok whatever.
now to the point.

yesterday was eugene's birthday.
(happy birthday dude. =])
it was the happiest (maybe) day for him, but the saddest day for a lone little bird known as elizabeth and for her closest friends in church- a little dicky bird named dicky and a duck.
the birthday slash farewell party at janes house was a weird affair.
quite a contrast.
the celebration of ones coming into this world and ones leaving of the church.
coming and leaving.
shall not divulge too much about the celebration of birthdays here.
but i shall take this chance to say that MR EUGENE GIAM has already so far celebrated his birthday THREE TIMES.
all with cake topped with frostings and the works.
one in Israel, one with his family and one in janes house.
(i shall also take this chance to say that the cake in Israel had sparklers for candles and it weighed about 30 kg and was a triple layered cake which cost about 50 US.)
well, the time when pastor bought a cake for cell group to celebrate, forgetting that the birthday boy himself has some boys brigade camp doesnt count.
and the birthday boys most expensive(maybe) present was a blue themed crumpler bag.
given to him by yours truly.
yes yes, you are all jealous.
haha.
now wipe that saliva off your mouth and lets continue.

the best moment of the day was when everybody crowded around to bless elizabeth and the cell group showered her with gifts and hugs.
(handshakes for the guys)
before janes house thingy, the teens cell group met at simei mrt station first.
and it was that time when i pulled out a poem which i had penned the night before and gave it to elizabeth.
the amazement and shock on her face filled me with a growing sense acheivement as she let the beautiful words wash around her, thanking me with every ounce of gratefulness in her heart.
it was truly the kodak moment of the day.

oh yeah, heres the poem i penned for her.
i call it, For Elizabeth.

I wait to say good bye with bated breath
With a heavy heart I stand with the rest
With tear streaked cheeks, I hold you tight
Never wanting to let you take flight

Every night I'll pray to God
"Please let her come back, she's the only one I've got."
I know He listens, I know He cares
To wait patiently I must which I don't dare

Your little little birdy face
Never fails to quicken my heart's pace
The way you laugh, the way you smile
The times I'd spent with you all worth the while

As I think about those times
Silently I pen, this poem which rhymes
You are truly one of a kind
Nowhere is there another, not even for a dime

The friend whom I can depend on
Whom I can laugh with till dawn
The friend who loves to pull my pants
Right down to the little ants

The friend with the right words to say
Something for which no amount of money can pay
The friend which evolved
From a little bird to a chio bird, she evolved

The friend who's my walking diary
The best friend with no need for lying
The friend who is the best
Which friendship put to every test

The bird
The weird
The wonderful
The beautiful

The chirpy
The happy
The best friend
The end

and at the side of the poem, i wrote in what was probably my best handwriting, "you are one of the people who i thank God everyday for bringing into my life. the friend i can trust. thank you."
and with a stroke of the pen, i signed my name at the bottom of the masterpiece.
and as elizabeth's eyes became glassy and with every word she read silently, i bathed in the quiet overwhelming sense of satisfaction and the glow of admiration that came from a friend who was truly touched by what i can do for her.
no manufactured things.
no frills.
just a simple poem in which i have expressed all my feelings and conveyed all the things i wanted to say but never dared to.
a simple poem which said all things which are complex.
a simple self penned poem for my best friend.
the end.
